Dansko professional shoes are perfect for the vast majority of office jobs. They’ve got clean, minimalist lines, are hard-working, and most importantly, you’re not going to take them off and hurl them at the wall when you get home in the evening!
Good professional attire has several different needs, and most manufacturers can only meet one or two of the criteria. You want your professional wear to look neat and smart at all times. It should be low maintenance and hard working, so that you’re not constantly polishing and straightening things, or paranoid about your appearance before an important meeting.
You also want to be comfortable. Ill-fitting clothes of any sort make you uncomfortable, give you an awkward posture and stop you from operating at your best. This is especially true of shoes. A badly fitted pair of shoes will give you back pain, sore feet, and probably make you walk with a wince and a scowl – not what we want at the office!
There are, obviously, hundreds of brands of shoes that ou can wear on a professional job. Some are great, others are less so. We’ve found that Dansko shoes are some of the best overall, and definitely the best in their price range. To find comparable shoes made from other companies in terms of long lasting, hard wearing, safe and comfortable shoes, you need to spend around $100-150 more a pair.
I don’t know how about you, but if I’m going to be spending more money on shoes, I’d rather get several pairs, or something to go out in!
Dansko Professional Shoes
Professional shoes should be durable. You’re spending long hours in them, and even if you’re chained to your desk for the most part, your professional working shoes are going to have the hardest and life out of your footwear ensemble.
They may not go through as tough a time as a workman’s steel-capped boots, but they’ll still take their fare share of scrapes and bumps. You want your shoes to be tough, to not wear or warp, and to not fall to pieces after the first few 12 hour shifts.
In our experience, Dansko shoes are some of the best in the world for durability. Designed form the ground up with hard work in mind, they’re resilient to sideways slippage, twisting, and abrasion. Even if you work in a standard office environment, spillages and dangerous hazards still occur.
And of course, if you’re intending on spending a reasonable amount of money on a pair of shoes, you want them to stay usable for a while. Most Dansko professional shoes last for 12-24 months of 5-times-a-week use, in our experience. Some will last longer, but we often retire ours to ‘padding around the house’ duty and treat ourselves to a newer pair.
Comfort is one of the other defining factors of a good pair of professional shoes. Comfortable professional shoes are bloody hard to come by, and what feels good in the store may not fel so good after your first three hours on your feet in front of a PowerPoint presentation.
For some reason, most designers of women’s professional shoes seem to be unable to combine ‘good-looking’ with ‘not wanting to rip them of your feet at the end of a shift’. Luckily, Dansko shoes are a step in the right direction.
They’re far more lightweight than other shoes of comparable comfort, meaning that your feet aren’t going to be as exhausted at the end of the day. You wouldn’t think that a small difference in weight would make such a large impact, but it really stacks up over time.
With their sturdy, absorbent cushioning, Dansko shoes give a good amount of support to the heel and arch of the foot, while being soft enough to not stress the bones of the feet with the impact from walking.
As for design, most of the Dansko shoes we’ve looked at or recommended to people haven’t had issues. If anything, the toe end of some Dansko shoes occasionally need a small amount of adjustment to get that ‘perfect fit’, but this is thirty seconds’ work with some tape or a few well-placed Band-Aids.
When you consider the variety in foot shapes and sizes, and that only a handful of women have had discomfort or a bad experience when trying on Dankso shoes, you’ll be as impressed as we were when we started looking at the brand and considering whether to recommend them.
So if your budget doesn’t stretch to hundreds and hundreds of dollars, but you want something stylish, durable, and comfortable, we suggest that Dansko is where it’s at. With their generous return policy if you’re ordering over the Internet, there’s not much stopping you!
